Professional Experience & Education Credits

To qualify, you must have a total of 7 years of professional experience in a relevant field. We recognize that advanced academic training builds professional foundational skills, and therefore offer the following credits:

  • Doctoral Degree: Holders of a PhD receive up to 5 years of credit toward the requirement.
  • Master's Degree: Completion of a Master's program provides up to 4 years of credit.
  • Bachelor's Degree: A relevant undergraduate degree provides up to 3 years of credit.

Note: The maximum combined education credit allowed toward the 7-year requirement is 5 years.

Significant Performance Standards

Beyond time in the field, you must demonstrate 5 years of significant performance. This is characterized by sustained contributions where you held responsibility for the outcome of research, projects, or publications. This performance is not required to be consecutive or within the most recent calendar years, provided the impact remains relevant and can be verified through documentation or peer testimony.

  • Editorial & Scholarly Activities
    This involves active service as a journal editor, regular reviewer, or member of an editorial board. Managing complex peer-review processes or leading special issues demonstrates a high level of responsibility and commitment to academic quality.
  • Industry & Applied Impact
    In the industry sector, this counts as leading the development of production systems, securing patents, or delivering technical solutions with measurable societal impact. It includes roles such as Technical Lead, Architect, or Research Lead where decision-making is a core function.
  • Leadership & Professional Responsibility

Application Process

Step 5 — Decision & Notification

Once the review is complete, you will receive a formal notification. Successful candidates are elevated to Senior Member, while others may receive specific guidance on how to strengthen a future application.
